Dallas + Joe's Surprise Elopement
Dallas + Joe invited their family to a made-up 'Gala' event on March 9th at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh for Dallas. Their families were told to dress in formal attire, as this was a 'big deal' for the entrepreneur, as she was to be giving a big speech for ‘women in business’ at the event (Dallas is the owner of 'Dallas Beauty Lounge', multiple storefronts in Pittsburgh, so this was totally believable). With a little extra creativity, the couple had sent out fictitious invitations and emails - and both families completely fell for it.
Upon arrival, the families were dressed formal as the invitations suggested and as they walked through the Ballroom doors, their faces went from huge excitement-filled smiles to confused. Dallas and Joe broke the news that there was no 'Gala' event, and that all of the secrets were organized with hope to include their immediate families into their elopement plans. Everyone was overcome with shock and tears. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
The couple got ready with their families separately, and were then shuttled by limo from Hotel Monaco to Phipps Conservatory Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh, where they had rented the entire conservatory to themselves after closing hours. Dallas looked stunning in her princess wedding gown and custom tiara, that only she could pull off. Joe was dressed to a ‘T’ in an all black timeless suit. Her florals arrangements were wild, colorful, and coordinated perfectly with the uplighting and low-hanging lights fixated in the main lobby room of the conservatory, where we took the majority of their bridal photos. She even had custom floral pieces made for a velvet couch she had rented, which draped along the back and arm of it. Every single detail reflected Dallas's creativity and the couples' uniqueness.
Dallas and Joe said their vows privately surrounded by a room-filled floral garden. Their families, still in shock, all had tears running down their faces. It was truly a fairytale moment, brought to life. Following the ceremony, families headed to Eddie Merlots restaurant in Pittsburgh, where private reservations were made. In the mean time, Dallas, Joe, and myself had the entire conservatory to ourselves for photos after closing hours.. where we made some SERIOUS magic (you HAVE to scroll through them all!)
Exactly three weeks later, Dallas and Joe had their own ‘Engagement party’ planned out for them - where friends and extended family members (who knew NOTHING about the surprise wedding) showed up in anticipation to celebrate the couple’s engagement. But man did they have a surprise in store for them…
As their friends and family took their seats for dinner, Dallas and Joe displayed a video on the projector. The video intro started what looked like their engagement session - casual coffee and holding hands. Just as the sweet love song in the background started into the main chorus - the scenes quickly switched to the same pair of holding hands, but this time in their wedding attire. As the video played on… their families and friends realized why they were all really there. There wasn’t an expressionless face or dry eye in the entire room!!!
